Defending my decsions

I'm reading this book right now called, "I saw the Angel in the Marble." It is a book written by a homeschooling family and it is amazing. While reading this book, it is giving me the confirmation that my heart has needed that we are doing the right thing.
You know, when you make a decision that is against the grain, you feel like you have to defend or apologize for making this decision. I am tired of this. This is my family and I am not going to explain this anymore. I think our decision to homeschool is the best decision for the way we want to raise our family. I'm not sure why I have a hard time talking to non-homeschooling families about this. I think its because we are on opposite sides of the fence and I don't want to offend them.
I know homeschooling is not for every family. I'm happy that God has put this on mine and Allen's hearts. I'm happy that we have obeyed.

I'm sorry you feel like you need to 'defend' YOUR decision. We get this a lot because we put Micah in private school. People got so defensive, right of the bat when we decided to do this. Why do people (and dare I say "mainly women") always need make everything this vs. that? If it's not breast feeding vs. formula fed, or SAHM vs. working Mom... it's all so catty. Why can't women support one another better?

=) AMEN Nancy!! Sarah I LOVE that you can homeschool! I really wanted to... I just did NOT have the patience for it! Timmy wanted me to EVERY YEAR! He even asked Minette to homeschool him =) HAHA!! I finally did when he was in 9th grade... and LOVED it! I KNOW it made a real difference in his life... AND I really believe that he is walking with the LORD today because of that year!! I do wish I had home-schooled Rich for at least a year... oh well... YOU can do this!!! I am so excited for YOU too!! Your kids will LOVE you for it!! Hang in there!!!

You're doing a great job and there's no need to defend yourself. But Nancy is right....women (especially) want to compare everything. It's what is right for YOU and YOUR family...and praise God that you guys can make it work in all aspects. Love and miss you guys. P.S. When you study US history and get to the appalachian settlers, you should take a field trip to Smoky Mountain National Park...we have "hotel" space for you :0)

Nancy hit the nail on the head when she said other people just feel that they have the right to say whatever they feel like regarding other people's choices and decisions in what is best for their families! I am so proud of you for homeschooling (ok and a bit jealous!)and you are FABULOUS at it. You should never have to defend yourself or decisions to anyone. But its the world we live in and you taking a stand and listening to God will only bring blessings! Love you my friend and keep being strong in your faith and obedience to the Lord!
